Reservation Policy

A one night guaranteed deposit is taken upon reservation. The remaining balance for any remaining nights and additional charges (i.e. parking) will be charged at check-in.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations: Deposits for reservations canceled 2 weeks or more before their starting date will be refunded less a $20 processing fee. Any reservation canceled 14 days or less before its starting date (including during the reservation) will be charged in full, unless the Bertram Inn/Samuel Sewall Inn is able to resell the room on the guest's behalf. Some reservations cannot be resold in full: if it is necessary to re-sell at a lower rate or for fewer nights total (in order to resell), you will be charged any difference in room cost. 

Room Choice: Although we do our absolute best to accommodate your room choice, management reserves the right to change rooms in the event of unforeseen circumstances. Rest assured, we will always guarantee a room comparable to your original request.

Pet Policy

The Bertram Inn is a great location for our guests and their pets. Together you can walk the quiet streets of historic suburban Brookline, take a stroll along the beautiful Charles River, or meander through the famous Boston Public Garden. After a busy day in the city, please enjoy relaxing on our terrace and taking in the fresh smells of the flowers below.

The inn welcomes pets of any kind with the following restrictions:

» There is no maximum size for pets. However, certain rooms will not accommodate a large pet.

» We require an emergency phone number when pets are left in the rooms unattended.

» Pets may not be left unattended and uncrated in the room. Any unattended pet must be crated. We have one medium sized crate available for guest use.

» Rooms in which there are unattended pets will not receive housekeeping service. Please speak to the manager on duty to arrange a time for housekeeping to be performed.

» We kindly request that all pets stay off of the bed linens. Any damage to the room or extra cleaning required (i.e. dry cleaning or carpet cleaning) will be charged to the guest.

» We reserve the right to request that guests with disruptive pets find other accommodations. We consider any pet that is audible from another guest room to be disruptive. Guests are responsible for any and all charges related to the removal/relocation, if necessary, of their pet(s) from the premises.

» Pets are not allowed in the breakfast room at any time. Pets are allowed on the sun porch after breakfast and welcome on the deck at all times.

» We have one set of food/water dishes available for guest use - please do not use the Inn's tableware for your pet's food/water.

 

Smoking Policy

Massachusetts State Law prohibits smoking inside of all hotels. There will be a $250 non-refundable fee for deep cleaning services charged to any room that has been smoked in to restore it back to its non-smoking condition.

Late Departure Policy

Check-out is at 11:00 am. Late departures (after 1:00p.m.), unless previously discussed with the innkeeper, will result in a charge of ONE ADDITIONAL NIGHT (this charge does not guarantee the departing guest accommodations), as well as any additional fees associated with booking alternative accommodations for the incoming guest. Our housekeeping staff needs the time after check-out and before check-in to prepare guest rooms for all arriving guests, and any delay can cause the room to not be ready in time for the next guest.

Children Policy

Children: The Samuel Sewall Inn welcomes families travelling with children of any age. The Bertram Inn accepts families travelling with children aged 7 and older.

Handicapped Accessibility

Handicapped Access: The Samuel Sewall Inn can accommodate guests with disabilities in one of our 4 first-floor guest rooms. Our ramp is located on the left side of the house, and we have handicap service amenities in select rooms, available upon request.

Damage Policy

Damage to the property, including but not limited to guest rooms, fixtures, furnishings, artwork, décor or linens, will result in a charge of 120% of fair replacement value or necessary cleaning.

Lost & Found Policy

The Inn will make a reasonable effort to contact guests after departure if they have left any belongings on the premises. We will ship items back at owner's expense. If we are unable to reach the guest(s), the items will be placed in our Lost & Found. Any items that remain in the Lost & Found will be donated to charity or discarded after 60 days.

Parking Policy

Overnight street parking is not permitted in Brookline; if you do so, you will incur a $30 citation. Please park in our lot located at the side of the house, on Saint Paul St. Parking is first come, first served and costs $15 per night per space. Neither the Bertram and/or Samuel Sewall Inn shall assume responsibility for any vehicle, occupants or contents while operated or parked on the hotel property. If our lot is full, you may park at The Samuel Sewall Inn, our sister property, for the same price; that lot is located directly across Sewall Ave. from our front door. If both lots are full (on rare occasions), parking is available at the Holiday Inn on Beacon Street. If you need directions to the Holiday Inn, please contact our live-in innkeeper by calling the emergency phone number. The parking charge at the Holiday Inn is variable from $18-$20. We will refund any guest that has already paid our $15 parking fee the Holiday Inn parking cost upon receipt of a Holiday Inn parking stub. All parking charges will be taken at time of check-in.
